First things first- Happy New Year, friends! I wish the very best for you in 2017! I hope the holiday season is all you had hoped it would be.
When I think of New Year’s Eve outfits, for some reason I envision sequins, glitter and all things sparkles. Initially, when I was trying to figure out what I would wear, that was the route I was going to take. I dove into my closet head first, but I couldn’t for the life of me come up with anything even close to what I had envisioned. I didn’t want to have to go out and buy a new outfit either (I spent entirely too much on Black Friday), so I figured I would just have to make one of my already existing outfits work.
After what seemed like decades of sifting through clothes in my closet, I finally settled on this gorgeous long-sleeved plaid dress from Shein. It was one of my Black Friday purchases that I hadn’t had a chance to wear yet. Initially, when I saw it on the website, I had envisioned wearing it in winter with a fur vest and a pair of booties. I hadn’t really played around too much with style ideas. This being New Year’s Eve, I knew I would have to spice up the dress a notch or ten. I accomplished this by snapping on a faux leather peplum belt that gave the whole outfit that extra va-va-voom appeal. Isn’t it funny how a piece as simple as a belt can transform an outfit?
The dress’ material is stretchy but still form fitting. Bear in mind that a lot of times with Shein you have to order a size up, as their sizes typically run small. However, I’d recommend going through each specific item’s size chart with a fine tooth comb as sometimes the cut of an item may affect sizing.
Because the dress was pretty “busy” with all the colors and overall plaid pattern, I knew I would have to keep my shoes simple and limit my jewelry to the bare minimum. You can get details about my shoes and accessories in this previous blog post.
This dress was dirt-cheap- like can you say unbelievably affordable? When I saw the price on the Shein website, I half expected Ashton Kutcher to emerge from the screen and scream “YOU’VE BEEN PUNKED!” That didn’t happen, so I can now confidently confirm that the price wasn’t part of some elaborate plan to prank me. *chuckle* One of the reasons I love Shein so much is because their items are affordably priced, without compromising quality. Take this dress for instance, you definitely can’t tell it cost pocket change just by looking at it. Do you see what I mean when I say you don’t have to break the bank to dress well? True story, fam!
As usual, I love to share specific details about my style finds with you. So here goes…
