As I plan my outfit of the day, ruffles and off-shoulder looks are here to stay.
Allow me to don bell sleeves if I may, let it be known I came to slay!
In a nutshell, that’s how I feel about this stunning winter white, off-shoulder, ruffle collar detail, bell sleeved top from Romwe. I mean what’s not to love about it? If you’ve been following my ranting and raving over the past few months, by now you know the die-hard love I have for ruffles, off-shoulder looks, and bell sleeves. Stir all three together in a pot of style magic and we have an undisputed winner!
Fun fact: Did you know that bell sleeves can be traced back to the 1840s? That’s centuries of the style evolving to what we know it as in this present day and age.
I call bell sleeves the bell bottoms for arms. The sleek and form-fitting cut at the top gives way to a burst of flared flashes of delight! That was one of the selling points that drew me to this top. It adds an additional pinch of sugar and spice and all things nice to the already interesting vibe this top emits. Let me also add that I was sold on the black stripe detail along the shoulder area and sleeves.
Insider info: I am a sucker for over the top (literally) styles. Life is too short to wear boring clothes (lol).
Versatility is a key factor I consider when I am deliberating whether or not a piece is invited to my closet party. I like to get a ton of wear out of any pieces I obtain; therefore, I choose pieces that I can pair with a wide array of styles. As expected, this top offers a ton of versatility; I can pair it with all manner of pieces. Think pencil skirts, to jeans, to slacks, to shorts like I did here. Also, because it’s a neutral color, it can be paired with colors, prints or other neutrals.
This is definitely a top I will wear long after the whole off shoulder/ruffles ‘trend’ bids us adieu. Why? Because I don’t subscribe to the ‘trends’ school of thought. Truth be told, you shouldn’t either. Wear what you like, not because everyone else is wearing it. End of my pep talk. *gets off soap box*
I chose to style the top with a pair of tailored, royal blue shorts. I love tailored shorts because they are dressy enough to be worn to a wide variety of places. The length and cut are just right! If you work in a conservative environment, you probably couldn’t get away with wearing them on casual Friday. However, if yours is a laid back place to work, knock yourself out. These shorts were made for strutting office hallways, and for impromptu water cooler conversations.
To add additional excitement to the look, I donned a pair of bright yellow, heeled, caged sandals for that extra dose of sauce. I am a huge fan of these type of sandals because they are oh so comfortable! Who said comfort is limited to wedges and block heels? That’s fake news! I kid you not, these are the type of shoes you can wear for hours on end without feeling like you’re enduring foot abuse.
As has become the norm in recent months, I kept my accessories simple; you can never go wrong with gold. I completed the look with a black felt fedora hat for an added unique flair. This is an outfit I can wear out to brunch, lunch, afternoon mocktails. I could throw on some flats and I’ll be ready for a picnic date. There is so much I can do with this outfit and so many places I can go to in it.
