Where exactly has the summer gone? It has sped by at supersonic speed! Well, technically, we still have approximately two more weeks before Fall is officially upon us. However, you would be forgiven for thinking it’s already the holiday season, given the stealthy emerging of holiday decorations and gifts for sale. Perhaps we should get through September first, before we fast forward to Thanksgiving and beyond? Can we hold our horses? One season at a time, please. *chuckle*
With the end of Summer 2017 drawing to a close, and with it, the forced bidding adieu to warm weather, we are in what can be an awkward style phase. It is still too warm to be decked out in full-on winter coats, but the temperatures are dipping, and with it, the window to wear lightweight clothing pieces is gradually closing. This is where Fall transition styles come into play. I’m here to tell you that this donut hole in between seasons does not have to land you in a style pickle. There is hope, my friends. *fist pump*
This week’s outfit is a spur of the moment Fall transition showcase style I put together. The year was 2017, the month was September. The weather took an unexpected turn for the worse, with temperatures suddenly dipping. Gasp, what would I possibly wear? All my colder weather clothes had been packed away months ago. My, what would I do? *gasp* I had a light bulb moment and approached my closet, armed with game-changing knowledge–pair a long-sleeved top with a sleeveless dress. Eureka! All was well again in my style world.
Layering summer outfits can be the perfect Fall transition styling option. I would most definitely not have been able to wear a long-sleeved shirt slap bang in the middle of summer; however, now that the heat index is dropping, I’ve brought out my full style artillery of long-sleeved tops. This particular white, ruffle number gives off a fun, playful vibe. The material is light enough to be breathable and warm enough to weather crisper temperatures at dawn and dusk.
The A-line dress is sophisticated given its length. Also, because it is an A-line cut, there is no visualization of additional bulk when paired with a shirt underneath. While it is possible to pair a sleeveless pencil dress with a blouse underneath, ensure that the blouse is well fitted, to avoid adding extra lumps and bumps to your silhouette.
In as much as I love bold, vibrant colors, I’m equally drawn to neutrals. I particularly love the minimalism and associated effortless sophistication that neutrals emit. Add classic yellow gold jewelry to the mix and we have a styling force to be reckoned with. In keeping with my slight gold obsession, for this look, I opted for a classic yellow gold watch, a gold chain link necklace, and a matching gold bracelet. The jewelry tied the whole look together, transforming it from sophisticated minimalism to sophisticated minimalism with a dash of sugar and spice, and all things nice. I opted for a pair of two-tone fuschia and black heels to add a pop of color to the neutral look. It was a neutral business at the top and vibrant party at the bottom combination!
This is an effortlessly stylish look that is versatile enough to be worn everywhere from work to non-corporate environments. For a more casual look, you can switch the heels for a pair of booties, or if the weather still permits, a pair of open toed sandals. Your styling options are limitless. Feel free to be creative.
As always, I don’t keep my style details to myself. For ease of access to all the aforementioned products, you can shop my entire look in one place via LIKEtoKNOW.it
