Today’s topic of discussion is midi skirts. Specifically, midi pencil skirts. In my (not always so humble style) opinion, midi pencil skirts have classy-chic written all over them! Like seriously, how can you not look sophisticated in one of style’s best gift to women? Did I hear someone say midi length skirts are boring? The nerve! Go back into that abyss of style negativity, and wash your mouth out with soap and water. There will be no such negative talk here! Lol, just kidding. Or am I? *insert dramatic music here*
Anyway back to the topic at hand, midi length pencil skirts give off an air of sophisticated flair that I find most appealing. I especially like the fit when they are high waisted- as I’ve mentioned before, high waisted skirts or pants have the magical ability to accentuate curves or aid the less endowed in creating the illusion of an hourglass figure.
Imagine how overjoyed I was when I discovered this gorgeous split front, faux suede, taupe colored skirt from Make Me Chic. My excitement knew no bounds! I knew I had to make it mine the moment it first drew my attention to its aura of awesomeness. I mean how could I resist its captivating beauty? Fast forward to a few days later when it arrived in the mail, and I could do more than just drool over it via the computer screen. I donned it and twirled around in utter delight! I was amazed by how perfect the fit is- if I didn’t know any better, I’d say that it is a bespoke piece. The fabric, although soft, is of a high quality. The length is perfect, and the slit adds 3 finger snaps and a touch of sass to it.
Fun Fact: You can wear the slit at the front, or at the side, depending on what your style preference is.
I paired this gorgeous skirt with a ruffled, off-the-shoulder, mustard yellow top that was Spanish Flamenco-inspired. The ruffle of the top and the straight, figure-hugging skirt were the ultimate perfect combination. I love the fact that this skirt can be paired with all manner of tops, from casual to chic and everything in between. Think tank top, bandeau top, tee shirt, short sleeved blouse, button down shirt…you name it!
I chose a pair of nude (for my skin tone) block sandals, gold accessories and a colorful, African print clutch bag to complete the look. How’s that for effortlessly chic!
The price point is everything to write home about- $14.99 for a high-quality skirt? You can’t beat that! Full disclosure: One of the reasons why I’m such a fan of Make Me Chic is because of their affordable price points without ever compromising style or standard. Sold? You should be by now. *chuckle*
