That 70’s Vibe

June 5, 2017

Retro-inspired styles make my heart leap for joy! There is something about styles from yesteryear that triggers boatloads of excitement within. I honestly think I was born in the wrong era lol. I particularly love the bell sleeves and vibrant colors associated with the 1970’s. I mean what’s not to love? *insert biased opinion here* I’m not one to be swayed by current trends; however, I love the fact that this season has brought with it an influx of prints and retro vibes. It makes it so much easier to obtain pieces that I would typically only be able to get from vintage/thrift stores.

Floral and tropical-like prints are high on my style priority list this Summer. Add bright, vibrant colors to that, and we have a winning combination! It was, therefore, a no-brainer when I came across this adorable tropical-inspired dress from Romwe- it was definitely coming home with me! I was drawn to the 70’s vibe it emits- that was without a doubt the number one selling point. Also, let me add that the tropical print makes me feel like I am a walking exotic location lol. The length is perfect as well and the back zipper makes it easy to don and disrobe. I can’t tell you how many dresses I’ve bought in the past that required so much patience, effort and prayers for sanity to get into!

This dress is free flowing and therefore flattering on (dare I say) all body types. Plus the fabric is lightweight enough to don in the summer months. Let me remind you that I live in a furnace, also known as Texas summer heat. Therefore the fact that I can wear this dress here is amazing.  Did I mention I love the bell sleeves? If I could walk around hands akimbo for maximum exposure of the sleeves, I would!

One of the multiple questions I ask myself before I purchase an outfit is what type of shoes I can pair it with. I’m pleased to announce that this dress can be worn with a wide array of footwear. Everything from high heel sandals, flat sandals, ballet flats, stilettos, and booties. I chose a pair of burgundy, three straps, heeled sandals, that are the perfect amount of sassy, classy and all things spicy.

Specific to accessories, I subscribe to the old adage that “less is more.” There is already a lot going on with the dress, pattern-wise, and color-wise, therefore, I’d recommend keeping your jewelry relatively simple. The last thing I want is my outfit and accessories engaging in a shouting match. I opted for a classic rose-gold watch, a gold bracelet, and a gold metallic belt. This cute mint colored, gold strap and gold clasp detail purse perfectly completed the look.  Gold has the tendency to provide any outfit it’s paired with an air of effortless sophistication.

Where can you wear this dress to?Pretty much almost anywhere you can think of. Think Casual Friday at your corporate job;  out for a picnic; out to a casual dinner; out to brunch; off to church; off to a wedding shower… I could go on, but I’ll give you time to think about where else you can wear it to (lol).

Now that you’re bouncing off the walls in excitement about this look, I can share details about it…
