2020 has been a year of embracing new norms, with summer activities a stark contrast from those of yesteryear. Thankfully, notwithstanding COVID-19 precautions, travel experiences can still be safely enjoyed.
We recently enjoyed the privilege of a safe, local travel experience at the Hyatt Regency Frisco Hotel. Barely a month since its opening, it is already making a name for itself. The Dallas- Fort Worth gem is quite a sight to behold! After months of pandemic-related self-isolation, and associated defunct social interactions, we needed a staycation — this hotel was the perfect setup for it.
Given the times, safety was of utmost importance to us. We were pleased to witness the myriad of COVID-19 mandates that were implemented and consistently adhered to at the hotel. These included: complying with social distancing protocols, mandatory mask-wearing, and frequent sanitizing of common spaces.
There is a staycation, and then there is a staycation in a never before occupied Presidential Suite. Ours was the latter! To say that it was an experience befitting of royalty would be quite the understatement. It was an out-of-this-world moment in time that is indelibly etched in our memory bank!
Our “humble abode” was chock-full of luxurious amenities designed to exude a sophisticated, while still being cozy, aura. The spacious living area complete with a comfortable sectional couch, a good reads- filled bookcase, a larger than life 65-inch TV, and floor to ceiling windows, was meticulously designed. The living area led to an open 6-seater dining area that can also double as a workspace or bar.
Moving on to the elegant bedroom, we were lovestruck by the décor and the floor-to-ceiling windows which let in tons of natural light, beautifully illuminating the space. The decor was ever so beautifully aligned with the overall contemporary vibe of the space. It was clear that a lot of thought went into design creation.
I think it is safe to say that a bone of contention amongst a lot of couples is sink space. Right? Thankfully, that was a battle we didn’t have to engage in because the bathroom has his and hers sinks. Score! Another aspect of the bathroom that we loved is the dual waterfall showers. The entire bathroom vibe was reminiscent of a high-end spa experience.
NB. There is a half bath at the entryway of the suite.
Other Room Options
Besides the Presidential Suite, there are other room options to choose from, including the Standard Rooms and Regency Suites. Connecting/adjoining rooms can be requested, and are subject to availability.
Copper and Steel Table is the hotel’s on-site restaurant conveniently located in the lobby. It has an impressive selection of American cuisine and a wide array of beverage options. You can either dine in one of the restaurant’s many seating areas, or you can opt to have your meal sent up to your room via room service. It’s definitely great to have options!
Also in the lobby is the hotel’s bar Copper & Steel Bar as well as its coffee shop Copper and Steel Market.
We loved the fact that the hotel is brand spanking new. We felt like pioneers of sorts, unearthing hidden gems all over the property. We discovered the hotel’s beautiful outdoor pool that’s open daily from 7 am-9 pm, season permitting. In addition to a dip in the pool, we relaxed on the lounge chairs, ventured out to the turf area for fun outdoor games, and enjoyed drinks at the poolside bar— Steel Horse Cabana. Needless to say, we enjoyed our time at the pool immensely!
Adjacent to the pool area is a fully-loaded fitness center. We will be the first to admit that we spent all our time at the pool and only walked into the fitness center briefly to admire their impressive assortment of machines. It was great to know that if we wanted to work out during our staycation, we could do so without venturing out of the hotel compound.
