It is that time of year again where we swear up and down that we will take the necessary steps to better ourselves. It’s New Year Resolution time. *insert applause here* For the most part, most people are gung-ho about keeping their New Year Resolutions for the first few weeks of the year. However, the momentum gradually dissipates, and people subsequently revert to old habits. Having fallen prey to this predicament in the past, in recent years, we have taken steps to ensure that we don’t let our New Year Resolutions face an untimely passing. We have resolved to keep the momentum going and ensure that our goals and aspirations see the light of day. That being said, we rounded up 7 of the most common New Year’s Resolutions, plus tools you can use to help you achieve said goals.

Getting fit and incorporating a health lifestyle regimen is high on the priority list for most New Years Resolution-ers. Rightfully so; your body is a temple, you should treat it as such.
IF you are trying to lose, gain, or maintain weight, there are useful apps available at your fingertips that will help you accomplish your goals. Additionally, they also allow you to track your exercise activity, nutritional intake etc.
The Lose It App allows you to track your meals and exercise. They also have a weight loss community you can be a part of for inspiration and support. The app has both a free and premium version, the latter offering more features.
MyFitnessPal also allows you to log your meals, track your eating and exercise patterns. Like the Lose it App, they have both a free and paid version of the app.

a). To Invest
Acorns is a mobile app that allows you to invest your spare change or extra cash; this is then invested in diversified portfolios by experts on your behalf. It is uber simple to use, simply connect a bank account and you can either manually transfer cash to the app, or have a set amount automatically transferred to the app as per your specifications.
Described as more than just an investment app, Stash provides tools that can empower you to be a savvy investor. You have the option to invest in a wide array of stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) . Note that you can start investing with as little as $5!
In addition to the ability to invest in ETFs, stocks and options, Robin Hood also allows you to seamlessly invest in cryptocurrencies. It is designed for both newbies and seasoned investors. Note that it is available via a phone app as well as on your personal computer.
b). To Track Spending
Mint is a great app to stay on top of your budget, track your spending, keep tabs on when your bills are due, as well as have access to your credit score and tips on how to improve it.
c) To Save
Trim is a financial help app that empowers you to save more, get out of debt and spend less. It allows you to reach your financial goals through personalized recommendations and savings opportunities.
d) Rewards/ Cash Back
Paribus searches through the email you use for online purchases and gets you cash back when prices of products your previously purchased drop.
e) Discounts
Honey is a free browser extension that works for you by automatically searching for the best coupons and deals online. When you are ready to check out on any shopping website, it will identify and apply the best coupon code to save you the most money. You can sign up for free here.

Use Sky Scanner to search for the best deals on flight, hotels or car rentals. Plus, you can unlock special savings when you book a flight through them.
This is another go-to flight deal locator that we can vouch for. Using the ITA Matrix Software, you can search for flight deals to your location of choice and see what dates have the cheapest flights. You can also sign up for fare alerts and be notified of flight price changes.
Hopper is a mobile app that can save you up to 40% off flight and hotel prices. It predicts price changes and sends you alerts, allowing you to make the best choice.
4. Time
Not to sound cliche, but once gone, we can’t get time back. Therefore, we must use our time wisely, yes? The following are some apps that you can use to help you make the most of your 24 hours in a day.
Evernote is an app that enables you to jot down to-do lists, notes, ideas, save files, and clip useful info like recipes etc. Having everything in one place will save you precious time by having easy access to your important information. Evernote has a free basic option as well as a paid premium option.
This is a handy time tracking, time planning, time reporting tool that will help you keep tabs on how you are spending your time.
5. Mindfulness
If living in the moment and taking on an attitude of gratitude is one of your New Year resolutions, then we have just the app you need for this undertaking.
Headspace makes meditation and mindfulness an effortless process. Just download the app, log in and prepare to clear your head of unnecessary thoughts, leaving room for living in the moment.
