JSX Airlines seemingly popped out of nowhere and has rapidly etched a name for itself in the unique flight options space. We recently had the privilege of experiencing their award-winning hop-on, semi-private jet service. Our JSX Airlines trip was a short, nearby getaway from Dallas to Houston and back. However, it was enough time to get a feel of the JSX vibe.
If you are curious to discover the hype about JSX Airlines, then you have come to the right place. This is our honest review based on our recent JSX flight experience.

ToggleJSX Background
Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, and formerly known as Jet Suite X, JSX teamed up with air carrier JetBlue to open its public charter flights to commercial fliers.
It is a hop-on, semi-private jet company which flies commercial flights out of private jet terminals. A mission they have is to provide joyful and simple flights. Specific to who owns JSX Airlines, Jet Blue, and Qatar Airways are minority shareholders in JSX.
Where Does JSX Fly?
Our inaugural JSX Experience commenced at a private terminal at Dallas Love Field Airport in Dallas, Texas, with a final destination of another private terminal at Hobby Airport in Houston, TX.
Currently, JSX flights only operate to and from a handful of routes, including the following:
- Arizona: Phoenix
- California: Burbank, Concord/Napa, Los Angeles, Monterey/Carmel, Oakland, Orange County/ Santa Ana, and San Diego
- Colorado: Denver/Boulder and Gunnison/Crested Butte
- Florida: Destin, Orlando and Miami (Miami route ends on 9/25/2023)
- Nevada: Las Vegas and Reno/Tahoe
- New Mexico: Taos
- New York: Westchester County
- Tennessee: Nashville
- Texas: Austin, Dallas, Houston, and Lajitas/ Big Bend
JSX International Destinations
- Mexico route is Cabo San Lucas
- The Bahamas route is Marsh Harbour
Note that JSX Airlines international flights may only operate a few times a week
Check out detailed JSX route information here.
Given JSX Airlines’ popularity, new routes and services may be added to its roster soon.
How Much are JSX Flights?
JSX offers two types of flights: Hop-on and All-In. The price points and fees vary; therefore, take note of each when deciding what option works best for your budget and/or specific needs. This is a high-level comparison of the two options:
Hop-On | All – In |
Non-refundable $50 change fees $50 cancellation fees $20 phone booking fee $0 bag fees $50 charge for overweight bags $0 drinks and snacks $10-$30 seat selection (each way) Free wi-fi | Refundable $0 change fees $0 cancellation fees $20 phone booking fee $0 bag fees $0 charge for overweight bags $0 drinks and snacks $0 seat selection Free wi-fi |
JSX Tickets Pricing
First-class and business-class flights on traditional airlines can cost an arm and a leg. Comparatively, JSX offers a semi-private jet experience without the exorbitant prices typically associated with such fares.
We honestly felt like first-class fliers without the exorbitant price tag. Flights start at $99 one-way, with prices varying depending on the routes.

JSX Check-in
Unlike traditional flights on other airlines, the JSX airport check in is crowd free and security checks are stress free. As a matter of fact, our check-in and boarding process took less than ten minutes!
Once your boarding pass is scanned and your luggage checked in, you can relax in the lounge area and enjoy free snacks, tea, coffee water, and free wifi.
Tip: Electronics such as laptops cannot be in your checked luggage; they will have to be in hand/in your purse or backpack.
JSX Baggage Policy
You are allowed two checked bags (for FREE), with a maximum weight of 50 lbs each. Extra bags will incur additional fees.
A carry-on bag is not an option, as the aircraft has no overhead bins. Additionally, you are allowed a small personal item such as a purse or backpack, that can fit underneath the seat in front of you.
A closet is available on board to hang items such as clothing bags, jackets, and coats.
JSX Flight Experience
The boarding experience is vastly different from that of U.S. commercial flights. Our aircraft was right outside the terminal, with no connecting jet bridge (passenger boarding bridge) connecting the terminal to the aircraft. We had to walk out of the terminal and onto the runway to board the plane.
Once on the plane, we were immediately drawn to the business class experience, seating for every passenger, with ample leg room and no middle seats. Furthermore, seating allows for only two people per row, which means each passenger has a window seat.
Tip: Seats on the right side of the aircraft have cup holders; therefore, visually, it appears more spacious with more armroom.
We were pleased to learn that JSX offers free (emphasis on FREE) inflight beverages (including alcoholic drinks) and snacks. Therefore, you will NOT need your credit card for purchases during the flight.
Every seat has electrical outlets, so you can charge your electronics during the flight. The seats are comfortable and recline as needed. Our overall take on the JSX flight experience was that it was relaxing and felt luxurious.
JSX Deplaning
Upon touch down, deplaning was swift and convenient. We did not have to walk from one part of an airport to another to claim our baggage —bags were offloaded and placed outside the aircraft, ready for immediate pick-up upon our deplaning.
JSX Parking and Transportation
JSX Airlines operates at private terminals at airports; therefore, be aware of the parking situation at the specific airport you are flying out of beforehand. Getting a ride to the terminal instead of driving would be your best bet.
You can park at the main airport parking or long-term parking spots; however, note that you will have to plan for a ride to the private terminal, as airport shuttles do not drop off passengers at private terminals.
Valet parking may be available for a fee at some locations; however. JSX recommends customer drop off at the designated terminal instead for ease and convenience..
Transportation Option To Consider:
- GoRentals: JSX has an ongoing partnership with Go Rentals. Call GoRentals at 888-888-1143 or email jsx@gorentals.com to book a car. Tip: We attempted to book a GoRental vehicle; however, because ours was a same-day request, they did not have the specific type of vehicle we wanted. We recommend that you book ahead of time whenever possible.
- Rideshare pick-up: Lyft, Uber, Alto
- Taxi: Yellow Cab
- Have a friend or family member drop/pick you
What We Loved Most About Flying JSX Airlines Hop on Jet Service
No crowds: We loved that we did not have to deal with scores of people as is almost always the case at commercial airports/ commercial airlines.
Convenience/ Time Saver: We saved time that would otherwise have been spent waiting in security lines. We arrived at the airport terminal right before our departure time, and we were able to check-in, board, and get on our merry way in less than 20 minutes.
Complimentary Snacks and Drinks: Another key point was how much of a breath of fresh air it was to be treated to a pleasant guest experience, complete with complimentary drinks and snacks. Specifically, not having to spend money on alcoholic beverages was definitely a win!
Two Complimentary Checked Bags: Another win in our books!
Business Class Legroom: The goal to fly in comfort was met!
What We Would Love to See at JSX Airlines
More destinations: We would love to see an expansion of the areas that JSX services, with more routes added in due time.
Price Stability: Hopefully, the current rates don’t spike after this introductory period, and JSX will maintain its affordable rates.
In-flight entertainment. It would be great to have access to in-flight entertainment (movies, TV shows). Perhaps this exists on longer flights; however, the aircraft we were on from Dallas to Houston and back had no screens.

Loved the review! I was curious, did you feel like you could feel more or less turbulence? With only 30 seats, I wonder if the smaller plane affects the flying experience negatively. For example, the huge airplanes seem to be very stable. I hope this made sense lol
Thanks for your feedback! It was actually a really smooth flight. We didn’t feel any more turbulence than is typical for a larger plane.
