Let’s talk about the vibe before we even get into the coffee. This spot has an inviting atmosphere that begs to be explored. We couldn’t resist snapping some Instagram-worthy photos outside the coffee shop, with the vibrant aqua walls as a backdrop.
We enjoyed perusing the Three Doors Down memorabilia collection that lined the store’s walls. If there were a nomination for a unique coffee shop concept, Greg’s Rockin Goat Coffee would have our vote!
Now, let’s focus on the real star of the show: the coffee and pastries! We treated ourselves to almond milk lattes and their melt-in-your-mouth chocolate chip muffins. And the best part? Our purchase didn’t break the bank!
Snapper Shack Grill & Oyster Bar, Tishomingo, OK
A lip-smacking menu awaits you at Snapper Shack Grill & Oyster Bar. Choose from various options, including savory salmon, succulent rainbow trout, tender snapper, tasty shrimp, fresh catfish, and delectable oysters. The seafood delicacies will transport your taste buds to a coastal paradise!

We enjoyed a delicious meal at this laid-back joint with a seafood-centric menu. We went for the blackened fish, which was flavorful and cooked to perfection. Accompanied by a side of rice and veggies (with squash in the mix!) Our taste buds were doing the happy dance! To wash it all down, we indulged in some Mexican orange soda.
We highly recommend Snapper Shack for a no-frills yet satisfyingly delicious meal!

Cafe Alley, Ardmore, OK
As hunger pangs set in, make a beeline for Cafe Alley in downtown Ardmore. It is a charming restaurant set in a time-honored building that has been preserved to maintain its rich history.
Choose from a menu of diverse culinary offerings, including the juiciest hand-cut steaks and the freshest shore-to-door in 24 (hours) seafood.

We were treated to a feast of flavors at Cafe Alley! We ordered the fish of the day – the Mahi Mahi. Our meal was perfectly cooked with a zesty tang, leaving us wanting more.
And to top it off, the cherry on the cake (or the sauce on the fish?), the owner came out to greet us! It was such a memorable experience!
Later, our server, an absolute gem, convinced us to save room for dessert. “Begrudgingly” (tongue in cheek), we gave in to “pressure.” And boy, were we glad we did!
The carrot cake was out of this world good – it was so moist and mouth-watering, and the portion size was undeniably generous!
Overall, we loved our experience at Cafe Alley. The food was tasty, and the service was top-notch.

Set in downtown Tishomingo (next door to Pennington Inn), this small-town wine bar packs a punch! From fine wines to artisanal beers and an array of liquor, Mulberry Wine Bar’s offerings will surely electrify your taste buds!

Mulberry Wine Bar is one of those places where you walk in and immediately feel like you have found your new go-to spot.
We enjoyed both a wine flight and a couple of mocktails. And trust us, these weren’t your run-of-the-mill Shirley Temples. Not at all! Their mocktails were just as complex and flavorful as their boozy counterparts.
To cut a long story short, Mulberry Wine Bar is certainly worth checking out.

We enjoyed a guided tour of the Chickasaw White House. Our guide was an absolute expert and knew everything there was to know about this historical landmark.
She narrated the mansion’s history as we marveled at the well-preserved rooms, their intricately designed furnishings, and decor.
Chickasaw Bank Museum, Tishomingo, OK
Delve deeper into history at the Chickasaw Bank Museum, where the prosperity and innovation of years past have been memorialized.
Stand in awe of its architectural brilliance and imagine the bustling hub it once was, filled with the clinking of coins and the excitement of financial transactions.

Our Experience at Chickasaw Bank Museum
Can you imagine being in the same room as some of the oldest and rarest Chickasaw Nation artifacts? That’s exactly what we got to experience at the Chickasaw Bank Museum!
As we explored the lower level of the building, our jaws dropped at the sight of a century-old money-counting machine, still in pristine condition.
We couldn’t resist peeking inside the adjacent vault, imagining all the precious treasures it once safeguarded.
And don’t even get us started on the first telephone ever made. It was like we were witnessing history in real time!
But the real showstopper was the museum on the second floor. There, we were blown away by an assortment of historical pieces, including classic fashion styles of yesteryear. It was all so fascinating!
Chickasaw National Capitol, Tishomingo, OK
Visit the magnificent Chickasaw National Capitol, which served as the epicenter of tribal governance until the dawn of Oklahoma statehood.
Fast forward to today, and this iconic building has become a captivating museum. It is a living testament to the Chickasaw people’s relentless spirit and unwavering pride.
If you’re a history buff or simply enjoy immersing yourself in the fascinating stories of the past, a visit to the Chickasaw National Capitol is an absolute must.

We felt deep awe and wonder as we toured the Chickasaw National Capitol. This venue housed the meetings of influential Chickasaw Nation leaders. Let that sink in.
We were equally impressed by the plethora of priceless artifacts that offer insight into the Chickasaw people of a bygone era.
Chickasaw Council House & Museum, Tishomingo, OK
Behold one of the most expansive collections of Chickasaw art, artifacts, traditional clothing, and archival treasures! These are housed within the great walls of the Chickasaw Council House Museum.
Prepare to be amazed as history comes alive right before your eyes, leaving you with a profound appreciation for the people of Chickasaw.
There is also an onsite gift shop with an impressive selection of souvenirs, including handmade crafts and traditional Chickasaw items.

The exhibits were thoughtfully curated, detailing their culture, practices, and notable accomplishments. We were blown away by the depth of information provided and spent hours devouring every piece of knowledge we could find. We highly recommend a visit!

Pennington Inn is hands down one of the most unique places we’ve stayed at! This gem is conveniently located smack dab in the heart of Tishomingo.
Now, we know what you’re thinking – “3 rooms? That sounds pretty small.” But trust us when we say that’s part of the charm.
This quaint little gem offered a welcoming home-away-from-home atmosphere, with little touches like cozy bedding and fluffy towels. We loved the decor, which was a perfect mix of vintage and modern.
And get this, it’s just a hop, skip, and a jump away from notable landmarks such as the Capitol and the Bank Building! Overall, we absolutely loved our stay at Pennington Inn.

Oh, Latte Da, what a jewel of a coffee shop!
It is a mere stone’s throw away from Pennington Inn (our accommodation in Tishomingo). It was, therefore, the obvious choice for breakfast.
We opted for a continental breakfast of perfectly flaky croissants that melted in our mouths like butter and followed it up with aromatic cups of morning joe.
Beyond breakfast, we adored the “Mom and Pop” small-town vibe of the place.

While at the Chickasaw Cultural Center, refuel at the onsite Aaimpa Cafe. Experience a fusion of traditional and contemporary flavors that celebrate heritage with a modern twist.

What is a visit to Oklahoma without a visit to Turner Falls? Incomplete, that’s what! Why? Maybe because it is the largest waterfall in Oklahoma and frequently appears on travel bucket lists.
Beyond that, it’s a breathtaking sight. Nature’s masterpiece.

We can’t recall exactly how often we said,
“How did we not know about Lake Murray before this?” …but we know we said it a lot.
The crystal clear water (our boat captain scooped up water in a clear bottle to demonstrate) as far as the eye could see, was mind-blowing!
We loved the cruise so much that we plan to go back and relive the experience soon.

What if we told you that the largest casino in the world (based on the number of electronic games and table games) is in Chickasaw Country? Well, we just did!
Cue WinStar Casino —where the stakes are high, and the excitement is contagious!
Try your luck at the gaming tables or slot machines, and experience world-class entertainment and dining options. Oh, and if you choose to stay at Winstar longer, the hotel is equally impressive!

On our way out of Chickasaw Country, we stopped at WinStar Casino. As soon as we walked in, we were dazzled by the glitz and glamour of the place.
The excitement was palpable: the flashing lights, the ringing slot machines, the winning shrieks of joy. Good times abound!

Our experience: Given that we are Dallas residents, driving to Chickasaw country was the most convenient option. We got a fuel-efficient rental car that helped keep our transportation costs minimal.

You can fly into Oklahoma’s Will Rogers Airport. Choose Oklahoma City as your destination.
Alternatively, because of Chickasaw Country’s proximity to Dallas, TX, you can fly to Dallas and then drive up to Oklahoma. Note that Dallas is served by Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Dallas Love Field Airport.
