Note that this is contingent on you having a valid reservation to another Safari Collection Property, You will not have access to The Giraffe Manor portion of the property, but you will still have the opportunity to spot and potentially interact with the giraffes.
Note that The Retreat is not an overnight facility. Hours of operation and availability are from 6 AM to 10 PM.
Our Experience at The Retreat at Giraffe Manor Nairobi, Kenya
We had booked our day experience at The Retreat at Giraffe Manor approximately a month before our arrival date. A taxi cab was our chosen mode of transportation to the leafy suburban area where Giraffe Manor is located.
Upon arrival at the gated property’s entrance, the security guard confirmed our booking details and warmly welcomed us into the colossal compound.
Check-In at The Retreat at Giraffe Manor
Our check-in experience at the property was led by a pleasant gentleman guide who would be our Retreat point of contact for the day. He ushered us from the lobby to a seating area, where we made ourselves comfortable.
We sipped on refreshing welcome drinks while taking in scenic views of the outdoor greenery. As we settled in, the staff member made copies of our government-issued IDs as part of their check-in process.
Tip: Be sure to carry your Government issued form of identification, such as a Driver’s License or Passport (preferably the latter).
Tour of The Retreat at Giraffe Manor Nairobi
Once the formalities of the check-in process were complete, we proceeded on a tour of The Retreat, led by the same guide.
We explored all the property’s offerings, including the restaurant, spa, steam room, jacuzzi, swimming pool, gym, and outdoor relaxation areas. Knowing where everything was beforehand would come in handy later!
Our Day Room at The Retreat at Giraffe Manor Nairobi
Following confirmation that our day room was ready for occupancy, we were led to what would be our tranquil space for the day. Our room was certainly quite a sight to behold!
We loved the elegant furnishings and large open windows that offered stunning views of the backdrop of nature.
Our room had a sleeping area with a comfy bed, a spacious open-concept bathroom, and a living space with a cozy seating area that led to an outdoor terrace overlooking the acres of private land. In-room provisions included complimentary water, tea, coffee, and light snacks.
Our day room was undeniably the epitome of a serene oasis. It was the perfect beginning to our Kenyan adventure!
How We Spent the Day at The Retreat
We had a full day to relax and unwind, and boy, did we rejuvenate! Our itinerary consisted of napping in the day room, dipping in the infinity pool, soaking in the jacuzzi, lounging in the outdoor seating areas, foodie indulgence at Daisy’s — the onsite restaurant, and observing the resident giraffes and warthogs. We had a blast!

Day Rooms
The Retreat’s luxurious day guest rooms feature en-suite bedrooms with peaceful sleeping spaces, open plan bathrooms with huge walk-in rain showers, and elegant interiors that lead to sunny terraces to enjoy the stunning Kenyan landscape.

You can stay connected with complimentary wireless internet access. Depending on the day room, you will have access to a workspace complete with a desk and chair.
The Restaurant
Daisy’s Cafe, located on the ground floor, is a wonderful addition to The Retreat at Giraffe Manor. This charming cafe offers a diverse menu of mouth-watering dishes for light bites or hearty meals.
There is also an extensive drinks list, including house wines, house beers, and house spirits. You can enjoy all this while catching glimpses of the resident giraffes and warthogs.
The Infinity Pool
The epic new infinity pool, surrounded by lush greenery, provides a tranquil setting in which to unwind. The pool overlooks the surrounding forest where the giraffes reside, so you will more than likely spot the resident beauties.
The Spa
In keeping with The Retreat’s recurring theme of relaxation and rejuvenation, the spa oasis offers luxurious spa treatments in a peaceful and serene setting.
Some highlights include a hot tub, steam room, and sauna. There are also private treatment rooms where you can enjoy a variety of massages, facials, and body treatments.
Note that spa treatments will incur an additional cost, as they are not included in your retreat pass.

Given that The Retreat is next door to the Giraffe Manor main house, you can observe (from your day room terrace) the resident herd of Rothschild giraffes at breakfast or afternoon tea. Note that this depends on the specific day room you choose, as some are closer to the Manor.

Safety
In as much as the giraffes are a sight for sore eyes, keep in mind that they are still wild animals and, therefore, unpredictable at any given time. Do not explore their habitat unless you are accompanied by a Retreat staff member. Also, adhere to their instructions about how to interact with the giraffes. Safety first!
Guest Accommodations
If you have extra day room guests, communicate this to The Retreat staff before your arrival. This heads-up will allow them to arrange for a day room that can accommodate an additional day bed as needed.
