ToggleHistory of The LINE Austin
The mid-century building that The LINE Austin is situated in used to be the Sheraton Crest Inn, then later became Radisson Hotel. It also previously housed a renowned jazz club. It is now considered one of Austin’s relatively new hotels following a revamp in 2018. Sydell Group breathed new life into the property and completely transformed it into the magnificent sight that is today’s 4-star LINE Hotel Austin
Fun Fact: LINE Austin (and other LINE brand of hotels like LINE Los Angeles) are owned by the Sydell Group.

Our Experience at The LINE Austin
We arrived at the hotel on a Tuesday afternoon and immediately got to the business of checking in. The hotel staff were friendly and made for a faster than anticipated check-in process. Off we were to our suite in record time, ready to let the good times roll!
The Suite
Our home-away-from-home was a Town Lake Studio that offered unparalleled floor-to-ceiling windows. We had some of the best views of Congress Bridge, Town Lake, and the Austin city skyline.
Fun Fact: Town Lake, also known as Lady Bird Lake, is a reservoir on the Colorado River. It was renamed Lady Bird Lake in 2011 in honor of the former first lady of the United States Lady Bird Johnson who was a long-time Austin resident.

Suite Details
Our suite had an open floorplan that was reminiscent of a studio apartment. There was a living area complete with a cozy couch, and a table and chairs that could be used for work or dining. The sleeping area housed a king bed, near the large windows that offered unmatched natural light and captured the sun’s rays on the lake. It was quite a sight to behold! We were also drawn to details such as the unique light fixtures and the intricately designed room decor. Each aspect of the suite meshed well together, making for a spectacular contemporary vibe in a midcentury building.
Suite Amenities
Additional in-room amenities included stunning custom artwork by local artists; a mini bar and local snacks; a micro-library featuring Texas authors; a flat-screen TV; a Nespresso machine; and a contemporary bathroom with a rainfall shower.
Tip: The hotel’s rooms and suites have clothing steamers by default. However, you can request an iron from the front desk.
Room Service at LINE Austin is available from 7 am – 10 pm. We were impressed by the wide selection of food on the breakfast menu. We made full use of the breakfast room service option every morning.
Tip: For breakfast room service, be sure to place the provided order sheet at your door the night before.

We didn’t have room service for lunch or dinner as we were mostly out and about exploring Austin. However, we dined in person at the hotel’s Arlo Grey, P6 restaurants (where room service orders for lunch and dinner are fulfilled) as well as Veracruz. We enjoyed the menu options at all three restaurants; however, Veracruz was our ultimate favorite. Their tacos are hands down the best we have ever had!
When not relaxing in our Town Lake water view Suite, we enjoyed exploring the rest of the hotel. The overall ambiance of the property is warm and inviting. We were particularly drawn to the thriving potted plants in gold planters, original artwork by Texas artists, the cozy fireplace, a myriad of public spaces in the lobby, and the outdoor spaces. The hotel lobby is perfect for both hanging out and working. We toured the outdoor pool area, but unfortunately, due to autumn rain showers, we could not swim during our stay.
