The original building was opened in 1961 as a Hilton Hotel. Since then, the hotel brand changed hands severally until it eventually became the Sheraton Denver Downtown as we know it. The hotel is now part of Marriott International’s brand of hotels and resorts and it remains one of Denver’s largest hotels. It is designed to be a perfect option for both leisure and business travelers.
Fun Fact: The Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel was once ranked the largest hotel in Denver.
Sheraton Denver Downtown Location
The Sheraton Denver Downtown hotel is centrally located in the heart of (you guessed it) downtown Denver. It also has the added benefit of being located a walking distance from Denver’s popular attractions. This includes the renowned 16th Street Mall — Denver’s popular pedestrian street. The hotel has two buildings — the Tower Building and the Plaza Building— that are connected by a unique sky bridge.
The hotel is approximately a 30-minute drive from Denver International Airport (DEN) and about a 20-minute drive from Broomfield, CO (BJC-Rocky Mountain Metropolitan) airport.
Our Experience at Sheraton Downtown Denver Hotel
Our flight from Dallas to Denver arrived mid-morning on a Thursday. We made our way to the hotel expecting to have to while away the time, until the onset of the hotel’s check-in at 4 pm. However, the friendly staff at the front desk were able to get us checked in and well on our way to our suite, several hours earlier than expected.
The Presidential Suite
Our thrilling Sheraton Denver Downtown hotel experience was taken several notches higher by our enchanting stay in the Presidential Suite. If ever there was a slice of luxury that we wished could last for a lifetime, this would be it!
The first thing we were drawn to upon card swiping our way into the suite was the abundance of natural daylight. This was thanks to the wall-to-wall windows, which also offered sweeping views of the Denver skyline. We were enamored by the attention to intricate detail. We could sense the level of thoughtfulness that went into curating a perfect space for rest, relaxation… and work if one so pleases. Secondly, we loved the fact that the suite didn’t feel “hotel-ly” (yes that’s a completely made-up word, but it fits the situation lol). It truly felt like a cozy home-away-from-home. That’s always high on our must-have list when choosing a hotel to stay!
Everything from the contemporary decor, furnishings, finishings, fixtures, and the overall vibe of the suite, was a win in our books!
The Presidential Suite Amenities
Living Spaces
There are several living spaces/ common areas n the suite, each one rolling into the next, given the open floor plan. The two living room areas, two dining areas, and the game room area complete with a pool table were more than enough to ensure an unforgettable stay.
The Bedroom
The bedroom decor was an exceptional combination of elegant and minimalist. The room was spacious, allowed natural light in, and was ultimately a tranquil space to rejuvenate. The Sheraton Sleep Experience platform bed is made for comfortable sleeping and the ergonomic desk chair allowed for a comfortable working experience. Also in the room is a flat-screen TV; however, we found that we preferred to keep it off and detach from electronics.
The Bathrooms
The suite has a half bathroom at the entry, and a full private bathroom in the bedroom. The main bathroom was the epitome of elegance, and worthy of notable mention in an architectural magazine. Features include a standalone rainfall shower with a seated bench, as well as a standalone bathtub. The his and hers bathroom vanity was the icing on the proverbial bathroom goals cake.
Additional Amenities
We had a refreshment center featuring a refrigerator, and coffee machine. On offer were complimentary coffee, water, and storage for cutlery and glassware. The living space had an additional refrigerator and two flat-screen televisions.
Tip: If you can shell out the money to upgrade from the regular guest rooms to the presidential suite, we highly recommend that you do. It will be well worth the experience.

How to Get Around Denver
Driving is a great option if you plan to explore Denver, beyond the confines of the downtown area. We used rentalcars.com to get a good deal on a car rental. It was literally $100 for 3 days!
It worked out for us as catching an Uber to all the places we visited would have been several hundred dollars more.
If you do not intend to leave the hotel much, then rideshares like Uber and Lyft or taxi service should work well for you. This will also save you the cost of hotel parking.
Walking is also an option if you plan to stay within the downtown area. There are actually a good number of local sights within walking distance of the hotel.
The RTD Light Rail is another affordable and convenient option for traveling around Denver. There is a station right on the 16th Street Mall, which is within walking distance of the hotel.
