Hyatt Regency Houston Downtown is located in the heart of Houston. It is in the bustling downtown district, also referred to as the central business district.
The hotel recently underwent multi-million-dollar renovations. Subsequently, there has been a complete transformation of the property. This includes guestrooms, corridors, lobby, main entrances, as well as meeting spaces. Following the upgrades, the hotel has become one of the best places to stay in the downtown area.

The Presidential Suite at Hyatt Regency Houston Downtown
We typically stay in luxury hotels; therefore, a stay in the Hyatt’s presidential suite was the best choice for us. It was a majestic VIP suite, well-arranged over 2 floors, offering elegant accommodations.
We had a spacious living room, an awe-inspiring dining area, a Pinterest-worthy bedroom, 1.5 bathrooms, and a full kitchen. As an added bonus, we had a cute office corner complete with a printer and desktop.
Aesthetically, we were enamored by the floor-to-ceiling windows. These warmly illuminated the space, as well as offered sweeping views of downtown! We enjoyed a highly welcomed home-away-from-home experience. This was thanks to the lavish layout of the suite, and the thoughtful amenities within. Due to the convenience of room service dining, we spent most of our hotel stay truly appreciating the suite.
Additional Rooms and Suites at Hyatt Regency Houston Downtown
The hotel has 955 spacious and contemporary guestrooms. (This includes 40 suites). These living spaces also underwent a major facelift. The rooms now have modern and contemporary furnishing and décor. Guestroom bathrooms were updated to include a sleek aesthetic with black floor tiles and in-mirror lighting. The rooms are also outfitted with new Smart TVs. These allow guests to sync their mobile devices for customized streaming capabilities.
Restaurants & Bars at Hyatt Regency Houston Downtown
LobbiBar
Located on the ground floor of the hotel, LobbiBar is the focal point of the hotel’s atrium. It is the best area to experience the unique vibe of the hotel. The LobbiBar features distinct seating zones. These are designed to create a sense of intimacy in the dramatic 30-story atrium space.
Also featured is table seating surrounded by wood-canopied booths lining the perimeter. LobbiBar is open daily and serves refreshing beer, wine, and craft cocktails as well as lite bites. The LobbiBar truly has its own personality!
Shula’s Steakhouse
The hotel’s signature restaurant, Shula’s Steakhouse, has three dining areas. This includes a private dining room decorated with white and black tile floors, reflective of a modern French Bistro. At the time of our visit to the hotel, restaurant hours of operation were limited to weekend breakfast only. However, we were informed that the hours will be updated soon.
Einstein Brother’s Bagels
We were excited about the onsite Einstein Brother’s Bagels. It is located on the ground level of the hotel. Here you can enjoy freshly-brewed coffee, bagels, and grab-and-go options.
Additional Amenities at Hyatt Regency Houston Downtown
The hotel has a heated rooftop outdoor swimming pool that serves as a great place to relax. There is also a fully-equipped fitness center as well as a business center, available for use by hotel guests.
Meeting Rooms and Event Spaces
Hyatt Regency Houston Downtown serves as a premier meeting destination. It has 71,000 square feet of meeting space including the 16,000 square foot Imperial Ballroom. Note that the ballroom can be divided into two or three separate areas.
The hotel also has a 28,000 square foot exhibit hall and multiple mid-sized and junior ballrooms, 13 individual conference rooms, and boardrooms. Note that meeting spaces feature increased broadband capacities to assist with hybrid meeting functionality.
Hyatt Regency Downtown Parking & Transportation
Valet parking is available at a cost of $40 for overnight parking with both in and out privileges. There is also wheelchair-accessible parking and an electric vehicle charging point on-site.
At the time of this publication, the hotel shuttle service is on hold indefinitely, due to the pandemic.
COVID-19 Specific Information
At this time, housekeeping does not access rooms until after checkout. However, you can always ask for supplies from the front desk as needed. Masks are required for unvaccinated individuals while in public spaces.

These are located either a short walk from, or within blocks from the hotel’s front doorstep. This includes NBA games at the Toyota Center and MLB games at Minute Maid Park. and Minute Maid Stadium. Here, travelers can root on World Series Champions, the Houston Astros, throughout the baseball season.
The hotel also provides easy access to the Downtown Aquarium, as well as the Museum District. The Museum District includes the Museum of Fine Arts and the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Also nearby are green spaces, and parks, including Discovery Green. It is a 12-acre urban park complete with a lake, fountains, and a children’s playground. To summarize, we loved our first time Hyatt Regency Houston Downtown stay. Specifically, we enjoyed the presidential suite, breakfast at Shula’s, as well as the hotel’s close proximity to the city’s attractions. It was the right place to stay, given our specific travel needs. However, we still hope to see a return of the hotel’s closed restaurant —Spindletop. It was Houston’s only revolving restaurant and had impressive views of the city.
