1. Lake Bastrop North Shore Park and South Shore Park
Lake Bastrop is a reservoir on the Colorado River, in Bastrop County, Texas. It is slightly less than an hour away from downtown Austin.
North Shore Park and South Shore Park are Texas state parks open year-round and managed by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA).
Tip: Most parts of Texas have relatively mild winters, making year-round glamping a feasible option.
North Shore Park
The sprawling 182-acre North Shore Park offers tent camping, glamping, and RV amenities, available for overnight stays.
Specifically, the camp features 8 water-secured campsites, 11 RV-secured campsites with water and electricity, 1 cabin sleeping up to 6 people, 6 safari-style tents, 5 Airstreams, and 1 bell-style tent.
Our Experience Glamping in Texas
Our unique accommodation in an Airstream was one of the highlights of our glamping experience at North Shore Park.
Each of the 5 Airstreams onsite sleeps up to 4 people. Therefore, had more than enough space for our party of two.
Our Airstream far exceeded our expectations! We had hot running water, heat, and air conditioning; a living and dining area with a flat-screen TV; a full kitchen complete with a cooking stove, refrigerator, microwave, and sink; a private bathroom, flushing toilet; and a sleeping area with a comfy bed.
Additionally, towels, cookware, and dinnerware are available for guest use in the airstreams. We had everything we needed to ensure a comfortable stay.
Right outside the airstream was a private deck and chairs where we enjoyed our morning coffee while taking in amazing views of the lake.
We also had a private fire pit, perfect for late-night campfire stories and marshmallow roasting.
Activities and Amenities at North Shore Park
North Shore Park has picnic tables areas, an outdoor hot tub, hiking and biking trails, a fishing pier, a camp store, as well as kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals. Outdoor recreation also includes fishing and swimming on the lake. As nature lovers, we also enjoyed a short walk at a nearby nature trail.
Lake Bastrop South Shore Park
Similar to its northside counterpart, Lake Bastrop South Shore Park is certainly a great place for glamping. You can choose to stay in an RV, glamping tent, or cabin. The park also features the following:
- 6 camping sites with RV full hookup
- 32 campsites with RV water and electricity
- For larger groups, there are 18 cabins which can each sleep up to 5 people.
Activities and Amenities for at Lake Bastrop South Shore Park
Water recreation includes fishing, swimming, paddle boarding, canoeing, and kayaking. Canoe, kayak, fishing, and stand-up paddleboard rentals are available on-site.
Outdoor recreation includes bird viewing, hiking, mountain biking, volleyball, picnicking, and a playground. You can also play a round of mini-golf or rent pedal cars for the day.

El Cosmico, located in Marfa, Texas, is a nomadic hotel and campground sprawling over 21 acres.
